This year I had my birthday breakfast at Waffle House -a place that’s always intrigued me with their basic black and yellow square-lettered sign that’s the same everywhere but which I’ve never eaten at, until now. The kids were probably dreading going there because I kept raving about the place but once we were there, it wasn’t that bad. There was a cool juke box in the corner with songs like “I Feel Good (At the Waffle House)”, “Waffle House Hashbrowns (I Love You)”, “There are Raisins in my Toast” and other great breakfast hits. We sat at one of the 10 booths crammed along the end of the counter but which was great for communicating with our waitress who was just on the other side of the divider. We enjoyed sharing a HUGE country ham steak that Jonathan ordered. Their waffles were also good and Jeff admitted that it was one of the best breakfasts he’d ever had!!!! Towards the end of our meal, I spied a small piece of cake in the glass case with what looked like a mini Waffle House sign on it which I really wanted but by that time, I was so full I couldn’t eat another bite. Later that day while I was walking Lacy, I happened to see my first hawk! It was so cool (and huge, which is what caught my attention in the first place when it moved its huge head).
