Well on 10/20/08, it was my dog Lacy’s Birthday!!! She is so cute in the pictures (isn’t she?) We put her in her special party dress just for the occasion. She’s getting older but is still very, very active. We didn’t get that much for her this year because she already has lots of stuff but we did get her a small heart-shaped peanut butter cookie for dogs and a giant fluffy milk bone squeak toy (mainly because she completely tore apart the last one she had which was a fuzzy brown squirrel in addition to Mr. Wishbone #8). After we finished eating the cake, we discovered that there was no chocolate in it at all!! It was completely artificial chocolate!! Weird huh? Looks pretty good in the picture though, doesn’t it? But it sure did taste like real chocolate!

It’s a really cool book, I bought it with my own money for $16.00. I got it at my school when they were having a book fair. There was also another book of steak and other recipes for dinner dishes. I thought that I should get the cupcake book instead because my mom already knows how to make very good food without a cook book, so I thought I should just get a cupcake (Not that she’s bad at making cupcakes it’s just that I wanted her to look at all the really cool ideas) My mom and I decided to make two kinds: the werewolf one and the alien one I hope you like the pictures!

And maybe just by looking at them you could try to make one!!! Or just buy the book, it’s a awesome book!!! It’s not that hard to make (ok, maybe on some of them) but it’s still fun!!!!

When I was about to let Lacy out, I saw this HUGE spider by the back door trying to come in and it scared me half to death! I immediately closed the door and then fretted that if I left it trapped there, it might still find a way to squeeze in further so I opened the door again and quickly shooed it out with a broom. I made sure to follow it farther back into the yard where I took the picture on the right. After jumping on the web to find out what it was, I was surprised to find out that it was called a Trap Door Spider (especially since I trapped it in between the door and the wall for a brief moment when I first saw it) . I later discovered that these guys were actually pretty neat because they supposedly lived under shallow “trap doors” which they made out of crumbly dry dirt and when they heard vibrations of would-be prey above, they winged open their well camouflaged “trap doors” and pounced on whatever was there. Even though it scared me pretty good at first, it was unusual (for me) so I decided it deserved a post. Thanks for reading!

This summer my grandma came to visit and she fired up our cotton candy machine. All we had to do was pour sugar into the middle of it and wait till these fluffy whispy threads came out. You had to be quick or sometimes it would get too hot and the machine would overheat. We used a chopstick to catch the threads and whirled it around the machine until we got a nice sized ball of cotton candy to stick to it. It was fun and yummy! Here are some pictures from that day.

Early this morning (10 o’clock) I woke up with Lacy on my lap. I went upstairs and got ready for the day and waited for my mom, my little sister and her friend to eat breakfast. When everything was done, we (mom, sister and friend) set out to go fishing and play tennis. The girls were going to play tennis and mom and I would fish. The tennis court was only a few steps away from the stream. While we were hooking up our bait, the girls decided they were bored and went home with Lacy. While we were hooking up the bait, I noticed a dead four inch long snake. As we were walking to the stream, we also noticed a dead fox laying in the middle of the field. We felt bad for it so we gave it a respectful moment of silence and hoped its brothers and sisters were ok. We finally got to the fishing. There were tons of fish (see picture below). As soon as I cast my line, and the hook hit the water, it went under and pulled very hard. I didn’t expect it to be that fast. I pulled the fish out of the water (see below). My mom and I had never unhooked a fish before so we freaked thinking the life of this fish, lay in our inexperienced hands but after a little bit of coaching from me (to my mom), she was able to push the hook to the back of the fish’s throat and free it. Then, as my mom was holding the fish, I filled our bucket with water. Mom wanted to go get her camera from the house but before she could leave, I decided to catch one more in the same exact way. Mom got kind of annoyed that she had to backtrack to free my second fish before she could take off. While she was gone, I guzzled her Gatorade and used the bottle to collect more water for our fish. When mom got back, I was ready to catch more fish and so I did. Shortly thereafter, two boys arrived on the scene wanting to join us. They were pulling fish out of the water as fast as I was and poor mom was desperately trying to save our little victims from dying on the hook. One of the fish swallowed the hook and got it stuck on its tongue. Unfortunately we had to remove a part of its mouth in order to free the little guy but thankfully, he made it with a lifelong memory. After that everything went pretty smoothly and since our bucket was getting kinda full, we decided to call it a morning (it was hot as blazes, see photo) so we gazed into our fish bucket a final time and then released them back into “the wild”. 13 fish baby! Yeah!

Actually, it was more like a brunch with yummy sandwiches, fresh cheese, fruit and dainty pastries all stacked on tiered dishes. We tried on big goofy hats and furs and since we were the only ones in the part of the restaurant that had the tea room, we went crazy and tried on everything! The boys looked like gangsters in their hats. Jeff ordered Russian Tea which he associated with the smell of fresh hay in a barn (a GOOD smell to him). Julia was happy to see lots of cantaloupe on the tray and I had a pot of Formosa Gun Powder tea which wasn’t half bad. Here’s a picture of our breakfast with Jonathan sneaking the last Strawberry muffin. It was an atmosphere in which you felt like you should be asking for “Grey Poupon?” but I remember the last time I asked Jeff that, he answered, “no thanks, I already wiped it off” and I really didn’t feel like blowing tea out of my nose in front of everyone….

A few weeks back, I got bored so I took my Lego people and smashed, bashed, crashed and thrashed them until I got a completely chaotic scene. I stepped back to survey the damage and then realized that it gave me great pleasure and a feeling of complete power. I felt someone had to be responsible for this besides me so I put a bank robber in the scene (see hand-cuffed individual at bottom right in “Making the Arrest” photo) . It made me happy. When my mom saw it, she said, “my, what a mess” but she took a picture of it anyway as she passed by since she had her camera in her hand and because of that coincidence, this very rare footage was captured for this website. I had more fun making it than I did cleaning it up. In the end, all the injured individuals were taken to the hospital, order was restored to the bank, and the bad guy was put in jail. I was finally at peace…but not for long!

So once again the city lived happily ever after (except the robber doing time).
